Manila to Siargao: How to Get There in 2026 (Route Update)

⚠️ Important Route Update

Cebu Pacific moved their Manila NAIA–Siargao flights to Clark International Airport on 30 March 2025. There are no longer any direct flights from NAIA Manila to Siargao Airport (IAO). This guide has been updated to reflect the current situation.

The best route for most international travelers arriving in Manila is now: fly Manila → Cebu, then Cebu → Siargao.

Siargao is the Philippines\’ surf capital — home to Cloud 9, one of Asia\’s most famous breaks, plus a network of lagoons, island day trips, and a laid-back vibe that\’s made it increasingly popular beyond the surfing community. Getting there requires a connection through Cebu or Clark. Here\’s the full breakdown.

Option 1: Manila → Cebu → Siargao (Recommended)

This is the easiest and most reliable route for international travelers flying into Manila. Fly Manila NAIA to Cebu Mactan Airport (~1 hour, very frequent — Cebu Pacific, AirAsia, PAL operate dozens of daily flights), then connect Cebu to Siargao Sayak Airport (~50 minutes on Cebu Pacific/Cebgo, PAL Express, or Sunlight Air).

Cebu → Siargao Operators

  • Cebu Pacific / Cebgo: Multiple daily flights, most frequent. From ~PHP 1,500–3,000 (~$26–52 USD) one way.
  • PAL Express: Philippine Airlines regional arm. From ~PHP 1,800–3,500 (~$31–61 USD).
  • Sunlight Air: Budget option, Clark and Cebu routes. From ~PHP 2,000.

All-in round-trip fares Manila → Cebu → Siargao (including taxes and 20kg bag) typically run PHP 14,000–20,000 (~$250–360 USD). Book at least 3–4 weeks ahead — fares double within 2 weeks of travel.

Connection Time in Cebu

Allow at least 1.5–2 hours for the connection in Cebu — baggage claim, re-check, and security take time at Mactan Airport. Book the legs separately to give yourself flexibility, or use a travel search engine that shows connections through Cebu.

Option 2: Manila (Clark) → Siargao

Cebu Pacific / Cebgo now flies from Clark International Airport (CRK) to Siargao (IAO) — useful if you\’re staying near Clark (Angeles City) or want to avoid NAIA entirely. Clark is approximately 80 km north of Manila — take a P2P bus from Pasay (~2 hours) or a private transfer. Sunlight Air also launched Clark–Siargao service in April 2026.

Arriving at Siargao Sayak Airport (IAO)

Sayak Airport is on the northwest tip of Siargao, approximately 30–40 minutes from General Luna (the main tourist hub) and Cloud 9. From the airport:

  • Tricycle: PHP 200–300 per person to General Luna. Negotiate before getting in.
  • Private van transfer: ~PHP 700–900 for the whole vehicle. Pre-book through your accommodation.
  • Free hotel shuttles: Many resorts offer free pickup — contact ahead of arrival.

Siargao: What to Do

  • Cloud 9: The famous hollow right-hand reef break — one of Asia\’s best waves. The boardwalk viewing platform lets non-surfers watch even when the surf is pumping.
  • Island Hopping (Naked Island, Daku Island, Guyam Island): The classic Siargao day trip — three small islands, clear water, snorkeling. ~PHP 500–700 per person shared boat.
  • Sugba Lagoon: Stunning blue lagoon in the island\’s northwest, accessible by boat. ~PHP 1,500–2,000 shared tour.
  • Magpupungko Rock Pools: Natural tidal pools revealed at low tide, located on the east coast. Best at 10am–2pm during low tide.
  • Sohoton Cove: Stingless jellyfish lagoon in Bucas Grande — a full-day trip from General Luna (~PHP 2,000–2,500 per person).

Best Time to Visit Siargao

  • March–October: Best surf season — swells from the Pacific. Cloud 9 is most consistent June–October.
  • November–February: Calmer seas, better for island hopping and non-surfers. Christmas–January is peak tourist season — book early.
  • Avoid: October–November can bring typhoons. Check weather before booking.
