Departures typically twice daily (~08:30 and ~14:00 from Penang; check current schedule). A genuinely pleasant crossing — sit on deck for views of the Andaman Sea and the occasional flying fish. Option 2: Fly Penang to Langkawi
AirAsia flies from Penang Airport (PEN) to Langkawi Airport (LGK) — approximately 30 minutes, fares from ~RM 60–150 (~$13–32 USD). Only a few departures daily. Once you include airport transfers at both ends (~45 minutes each), the total journey time is similar to the ferry. Only worth flying if fares are very cheap or the ferry is sold out.
