Getting the Ferry: Sanur to Nusa Penida
All public fast boats to Nusa Penida depart from Sanur Beach on Bali\’s east coast. There\’s no single official pier — several operators run boats from the beach, including Marlin Fast Boat, Rocky Fast Cruise, Mola-Mola Express, and Bluewater Express. Journey time is 30–45 minutes to Toyapakeh or Ped pier on Nusa Penida\’s west coast.
Departure Times
Boats depart throughout the morning from approximately 07:00 to 12:30. Return boats from Nusa Penida to Sanur run from approximately 07:00 to 16:30. The earliest morning departures reach the island before tour groups arrive — useful if you want to see Kelingking Beach without crowds.

- Angel\’s Billabong: Natural infinity pool carved into the rock at the island\’s southwest tip. Only safe at low tide.
- Broken Beach (Pasih Uug): A natural archway leading to a circular cove. No swimming — just the view.

Day Trip vs Staying Overnight
A day trip from Bali is enough to cover the main west coast attractions (Kelingking, Angel\’s Billabong, Broken Beach) with a hired scooter or driver. Staying overnight lets you see Diamond Beach and the east coast without rushing, and means you\’re there at sunrise before tour groups arrive. Accommodation on Nusa Penida ranges from basic guesthouses to mid-range villas.

Practical Tips
- Roads are rough — the interior is hilly and roads are steep in places. Experienced scooter riders only for self-riding. Hire a local driver if unsure (~IDR 350,000–500,000/day)
- Bring cash — ATMs on Nusa Penida are limited and sometimes out of order
- Seasickness — the crossing can be choppy, especially in low season. Take pills if sensitive
- Start early — most attractions are best before 09:00, before tour buses arrive
