Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne — Vietnam\’s wind-sports capital and home to dramatic red and white sand dunes — is a popular weekend escape from Saigon, just 4–5 hours east along the coast. Sleeper buses run overnight, and day buses get you there in time for sunset. This guide covers all options.

Option 1: Sleeper Bus Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne (Most Popular)
Futa Bus, The Sinh Tourist, Hanh Cafe, and many operators run daily buses from Ho Chi Minh City (Ben Xe Mien Dong or various backpacker pickup points) to Mui Ne — approximately 4.5–5.5 hours, fares from ~150,000–250,000 VND (~$6–10 USD). Flat-bed sleeper buses depart morning and evening. Drop-off directly on Mui Ne\’s main beach strip. The most practical option — very well served, no need to book more than a day ahead.

Option 2: Train Ho Chi Minh City to Muong Man + Taxi
The Reunification Express stops at Muong Man station, approximately 30 km from Mui Ne town — approximately 3.5–4 hours, fares from ~$5–15 USD depending on class. From Muong Man station, take a taxi or xe om to Mui Ne (~30 minutes, ~100,000–200,000 VND). Slower overall than the bus due to the onward transfer, but the train is more comfortable. Worth it if you enjoy train travel or the bus is sold out.
ℹ️ Mui Ne\’s accommodation is spread along a 10 km coastal strip — confirm which end of the strip your hotel is on and tell your bus driver to drop you at the nearest point. Budget guesthouses cluster toward Mui Ne village (east end); resort-style hotels are more toward Ham Tien (west end).
