Lombok to Gili Islands: Boat Guide (2026)

Lombok to the Gili Islands is a very short crossing — just 15–30 minutes by local boat or fast boat from Bangsal Harbour on Lombok\’s northwest coast. If you\’re already on Lombok and want to add a few days on the Gilis (or vice versa), this is one of the easiest hops in Indonesia. This guide covers all options.

Option 1: Local Boat from Bangsal Harbour (Cheapest)

Public cidomo boats depart from Bangsal Harbour to all three Gili Islands throughout the day — approximately 15–30 minutes per island (Gili Air closest, Gili T furthest), fares from ~15,000–20,000 IDR (~$1 USD) per person. Boats leave when full (usually 6–8 people). Can involve some waiting. Bangsal is about 1.5–2 hours from Mataram or Kuta Lombok by ojek or car. The classic budget option.

Option 2: Private Boat / Chartered Speedboat

Private speedboat charters from Bangsal or Teluk Nare to the Gilis — approximately 10–15 minutes, fares from ~200,000–400,000 IDR (~$12–25 USD) for the whole boat. Worth splitting between a group. Fastest option if you have luggage or don\’t want to wait for the public boat to fill.

Option 3: Fast Boat from Lombok Airport Area

Several operators offer transfers from Lombok International Airport (LOP) directly to the Gili Islands by road + fast boat — approximately 2.5–3 hours total, fares from ~$25–40 USD. Convenient if you\’ve just flown into Lombok from Bali or elsewhere and want to go straight to the Gilis without navigating Lombok\’s roads independently.
